Activities :
- Establish, update and regulate industry standards in the travel and tourism industry.
- Registration and licensing of tourist service providers.
- Inspection and monitoring of tourist establishments and service providers to ensure strict adherence to industry
Standards.
Formulation and establishment of criteria to regulate prices, charges, fees and rates in respect of tourist services and
Registration of tourist enterprises.
- Formulation and establishment of criteria for declaration of tourist enterprises and services under new classification.
- Initiating action against errant service providers and violators in industry codes.
- Facilitate the functions of the Hotel Classification Committee
- Providing quality enhancement advisory to service providers.
- Administration of procedures for protection of high ways and places of scenic beauty.
- Providing facilitative services for tourism services providers
- The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority is the regulatory authority of all tourism development in Sri Lanka as per the Tourist Development Act No. 14 of 1968. Under this act the Sri Lanka Tourism Development
Authority register and license all tourist establishments.
